Why You Should Do a First look

Are you debating whether to use the “first look” versus waiting until you walk down the aisle to see your love?  There are benefits to both! The traditional method – the latter – is extremely romantic and meaningful. Whatever you decide, we will make it work, however following are some reasons why you should consider the first look approach, prior to the ceremony.

1. It is intimate

This can be a very intimate time between just the two of you and it can also help calm your nerves.  You can have more time to basque in the moment of being with your soon-to-be spouse if you do it before the ceremony.

2. More time with your guests

Your wedding day will be done before you know it, and you want to be able to spend as much quality time with your family and friends as possible! By taking the photos ahead of time, you can be fully present during the social hour.

3. You can take the photos in a different location

Frequently people want their first look to be with the amazing Tetons in the background, but they aren’t having their ceremony in GTNP.  I’ve had this happen a few times with people getting married at Teton Pines Resort and Country Club and then we go to GTNP for the first look photos. If we take your photos before the ceremony, we will be happy to accommodate these stunning (but slightly more time-consuming) photos!

4. More time for photos

This is the main reason people opt for the first look. By seeing your significant other before the ceremony, it makes it easier to get the bridal party and family portraits done.  These are some of the most time-consuming and stressful photos for the bride. Often the bride feels it is her responsibility to reign in all the family (it isn’t, by the way) and get those big group shots and it is nice to have them done before the ceremony so you can just enjoy everything from that point on.
